Summer in the City

Should this be an apology letter? I do feel guilty for ignoring my blog all summer long, but when it’s hot in New York, the restaurants spill out into the streets along with the people. I try to be out of the house all day going from work to happy hour, to a movie, to more drinks. This lifestyle is far from sustainable for me and only lasted about 3 weeks until sleep begged me to start cutting my nights short. Even last night, seeing the NYU students parade around the East Village in little black dresses, I smiled knowing I didn’t have to go to a “DJ set.” The last time I stayed out past 1 am, was to play Mario Party at a friend’s apartment…

Work wasn’t secondary but tertiary this summer. With little to do and my boss in the Hamptons or Europe or Kenya (yes, that was all during the same 3-month span), my 9-5 became an opportunity to gallery hop. I saw more art this summer than I have in my entire life despite the art world taking June-August to fuck off. Though, I am not one to judge as I abandoned all my responsibilities as well (all my responsibilities meaning my blog.)

I am glad it’s September and that fall officially starts tomorrow, according to Google’s ai assistant. The same four tank tops in my dresser drawer are begging to be put out of their misery and my fall wardrobe has been lying in wait for months. Now that summer is ending, it is time for me to say just one last thing and then I swear to god I’ll shut up about this forever: I know everyone thinks autumn is the best season, but I’ll take the sweating and the sunburn and the ice cream any time, even though I’m sick and tired of it. ❤
